Someone recently asked a question on here. I'm not naming names, but I notice that a lot of people just always switch teams. I, for one, think it's just not right. To me, when you become a fan, you stick with that team until.........death. Anyone else agree?

All opinions and views welcome :)

By the way-Happy New Years Eve, everyone!

A team moving is okay. That's acceptable (to me anyways)

Seriously, what's with all the thumbs down?

AGREE. Once you're a die-hard fan of a team, you can't change that, or you were never a die-hard to begin with. There should be one team that you consider yourself a fan of, not two or three. Fans should support their team through the good and through the bad. Every team has their ups and downs! Just today I saw a question where a girl's user name was "Rockies Fan" yet she asked a question about the Red Sox, claiming she was trying to be a Red Sox fan...that really puzzled me! I mean...the two teams that played against each other in the WS! Of course, that girl isn't the first and surely won't be the last. As for me, I'm a Red Sox fan until the day I die!

Happy New Years Eve to you as well!

I think you pretty much nailed it on the head. There are always exceptions, for example, I don't blame anyone in the DC area who became Nationals fans once they moved in.
Also, when I was a kid I liked the Phillies, but I also liked the Orioles because they were doing pretty decently, and because they were close by. Then as I got older and understood the "behind the scenes picture" of MLB, I stopped liking the O's (basically because of the Owner Peter Angelos), and became a 100% devoted Phillies fan.
Also, people move because of business, and honestly there is always fun in rooting for the home team where ever you are. I think those are the biggest exceptions. I am not a fan of bandwagon jumpers. I don't think you can truly celebrate the success of a team until you have experienced the unsuccessful years.

Thats just my take though.

Nobody is going to take a juicer who makes $28 million a year to hit .270 with 18 homers and 57 RBI. The Steinwienies (over)paid to get him and they'll be stuck with him for five more years. Not even Arte Moreno is stupid enough to take this piece of crap off their hands. Granderson is what he was in Detroit, which is why he wound up in NYC. Since the club seems to have a fondness for overrated degenerates, I wouldn't be shocked if they signed Hamilton to play left field. There is no quick fix for this team, and that's a good thing. They've blown too much money on worthless players and it's finally come back to bite them in the @ss. I love it.

I had agreed about that, my family and relative just have new era to learn some baseball. My older cousin who was raise in Georgia but she's the Yankees fan because she has the summer job in New York City at summer when she was at college. I though that she could be the Braves fan because she's Georgian resident. If I switch to the Yankees from the Red Sox that my cousin would be on my side for all-time to support the Yankees.

agree 100% i was born an angel fan, ill die an angel fan
nothing could change that, i have other teams that i like, and if they arent playing my angels ill root for them, but thats where it ends, there is no other team i follow with the same dedication and there never will be
theyve been the california angels, the anaheim angels, the los angeles angels and the los angels of anaheim in my lifetime, ive stuck with them through the periwinkle uniforms when disney owned them, ive stuck with them through the awful trade on dante bichette for dave parker, through the post discarcina injury meltdown of '96, the infamous donnie moore homerun in '86
so i feel that i had the right to jump for joy when the halos finally went all the way in '02, and i feel i have the right to beam with joy when the angels are considered a perenial contender here in the modern day
a lot of the people on here (owing to your age) wouldnt know about all the hard times the angels endured over my lifetime (though we didnt endure as bad as the cubs) but when you see the team that youve loved since you were 1 or 2 yrs old climb from the pit the angels franchise used to live in and become a model of success, it makes you very proud of your team
red sox fans cant understand this, cause though they went so many years with no championships, they still got to the series many times, they still had tons of amazing things happen in their favor (though that was always tempered by something bad) take, for instance, '86 when the angels had the sox on the ropes, just one more out and we would have gotten to the series for the ol cowboy and then a hit batter and a dramatic homerun from a very unlikely source (dave henderson) and the dream was over- of course then in the world series bill buckner forgot to put his glove down
the only team that can really understand what im talking about is the cubs

Bandwagon fans are the worst, they are so annoying when the team is winning then they get so defensive if they start loosing. Being a Cubs fan for 29 years and I am only 29 years old, I can say I have seen the lows and the few highs, but still love my team.

I agree with you 100%. One should switch teams only if their favorite team moves or is disbanded. I root for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and based on that alone I deserve to switch teams. However, I have not because I've been a fan for my entire life (27+ years) and I have so much merchandise based on that team.
