Something I read today said prejudice is the central tragedy of American History. And I wondered if the inability to tolerate differences -- religious, political, social, racial, economic, physical, etc -- is the central tragedy of the human animal the wide world over.

Prejudice, hatred and wars for World History. Human sacrifice by ancient nations.

Slavery and abortion for American History. What can you say of a nation that kills their own children? Slavery almost destroyed this nation. Abortion may just accomplish it. Innocent blood has always cried out to God from the ground.

Wonder if the prejudice is really just a vehicle for a primal self-centeredness at the core of humanity, which translates to the desire for what the other has, the fear of losing what one has.
