Thelma and Louise?

I just watched Thelma and Louise for the first time yesterday and I was so sad and devasted at the fact that they killed themselves, it was an awesome movie up until the ending. So I went back to see the alternate ending it had terrible quality and was unrealistic, but it was much better and uplifting, does anyone agree with me, and do you think they should have put the alternate ending in as the original ending instead, put aside the feminist moral if you can.

I LOVE Thelma and Louise! While the original ending was a bit depressing, I liked it better than the alternate. Driving off the side of a cliff just seemed like something Thelma and Louise would do.

The ending was about freedom from the manipulation and controls in their lives, those things that had stifled and suffocated them and made life so stale, whether it was the past, men, the crimes they had participated in, etc. They were tired of being controlled, manipulated, told what to do. Driving off the cliff was a liberation for them -- yeah in a whacked kind of way -- but it was about not being controlled anymore so it was a twisted victory, but victory none the less.

no i liked it just the way it is. i mean of course i don't condone suicide but it was befitting. they just were saying they weren't going to let any more men dictate their lives. i've never seen the alt ending but it made it's point. i mean come on they would've spent the rest of their lives in prison after all of the stuff they did, especially killing the guy and robbing a grocery store. it was the best chick flick.

I have never seen the alternate ending.
I have only seen the movie on t.v. not on dvd or vhs.
The ending is sad but I would not want to see them end up in jail.

They went out to have good time1 and they knew if cuaght they'd spend rest of lives in jail.. so why do that to end it all more forfilling!! and freeing!
