It is up to you. I always read that this is typical, and if you let them sleep, they will wake up much sooner to eat again, so I always changed their diaper once they fell asleep, so they can get a full tummy and I can get more sleep at night.

my son did this and at his 2 month check up my dr said he was underweight so i told her that he always fell asleep eating, so she recommended that i wake him up by making him eat in only a diaper, or put a cold wash cloth on his forehead or tickle his side while he eats... now hes at his right weight gain and hes fine..
congrats and enjoy the new year with your little guy!!

It depend on how often he wake ,if he drink 3 oz. and sleep 3 hours and wake up starving , that's good but if be falls asleep and wake up in half hour to eat I may just burp him and wake his and offer him more milk, it just depends

Well there is certainly no harm in letting him sleep, it just reinforces a habit that will make life harder on you. If he is consistently falling asleep while he is eating, then he is not ever getting full and then waking to a hungry tummy. This will likely prolong the amount to time you have to wake during the night to feed him. Getting him eating and growing...which in turn allows him to eat more at feedings, stay full longer, and then sleep better, will get you both closer to sleeping through the night sooner.
When he starts to fall asleep, simply start stripping him of his clothes until he gets "uncomfortably" cool enough to stay awake. I used to lightly scratch my fingernails down my girl's back (you know how that gives you goosebumps?) and she would get her "second wind" and finish her meal.

Ask your dr. but when babies are that small, they get tired easily and fall asleep, try waking him up and see if he'll take a little more but don't force him. Also babies' stomachs are very small and they can't hold very much at one feeding, so they have to eat more often. Try using the 4oz bottles rather than the tall ones. When he has his first growth spurt he'll be eating a lot!
Congratulations and Happy New Year!

Alright, this can beomce Serious eating habbit and can carry on into his life. Always make sure he stays awake during feeding That way the behavior isnt encouraged and the habbit is broken but if he wants to nap when he is finished there is no problem just make sure there is a clear difference between feeding and sleeping. not only can this habbit be forming but it can casue digestion problems. Try Moving him Around while you feed him, when he startes to doze change his position, this should help keep him awake long enough. Also *dont feed him if he is still trying to eat while sleeping* he can drown or block his airway from this action.
try not to worry to much tho he'll grow out of it with time if you keep him moving. happy feeding

Is he getting enough to eat? Keep track of how much he is eating and how long he drinks before falling asleep. Sometimes babies that fall asleep before they get enough to eat can possibly have an illness. My niece would always fall asleep or not nurse and it turned out that she had a heart condition that doesn't show up until after they are born. Talk to his doctor.
