It's a personal choice, but having a beard is a sign of masculinity, many women like bearded men, and fashion changes with the times. Currently, goatees are very popular for men.

My husband has a beard and mustache, and he keeps it very well trimmed, and it looks fine to me. Now long shaggy ,unkept and unclean beards are gross.

Normal, natural and looks good. Why would anyone want to shave all their natural facial hair off, I could ask.

having been a young man with a very "boyish" face, I grew my first beard while aboard a naval ship during vietnam. My beard was stylish, and I won first prize for best appearing beard (pretty good for a 19 yr old) my prize was $10.00 worth of shaving gear from the ships store, at which time I was required to shave the beard off as we were entering port in Japan. I enjoyed the mature look of the beard, I was accepted more as a mature male by my shipmate's, and my perception of myself as being very young looking boosted my morale. I have worn a beard most of my adult life, and keep my beard trimmed, clean, and stylish. Most of my female companions enjoyed the appearance, and the feel of my facial hair. I feel that my wearing a beard provided me a sort of distinguished appearance, I was accepted more readily by my peers, and associates

to look more masculine, or because it can hide their ugly face. Some people look better with beards others should just shave

I love facial hair on a man, especially a goatee. I don't like long, ZZ Top style beards, though. That's just scary.

I was just too lazy to shave all the time.
I had my beard for about 16 years till I shaved it off for a surprise for my mother's 80th birthday.
I found that I was a whole lot cooler in the summer without it so I started shaving for warm weather and growing my beard in the winter. It really does keep your face warm.
This is the first winter since 1985 that I didn't grow my beard back. I can't have a beard and wear a respirator at work.

The poeple I know either gave us shaving because they couldn't be bothered, or use it to cover a scar. One guy for example was hit by a car when he was a kid and that covers it over.
Other reasons might be religious like in Islam you're not supposed to shave it off.

It took me almost twenty-five years for me to learn how to grow one. So, I wear it proudly
P.S. Nothing says "manly" more than a nicely grown pair of mutton chops
