Why would the "oil producing" nations do that? The fact is that the USA has huge oil reserves that we keep under wraps. Some is known and not talked about, many areas are obvious sites for development and not even checked, for "environmental" reasons.

Economies, whether local, national or global, depend on trade. While Saddam was in power there was a program called "oil for food". Do you remember?
What the program was, was trade for luxury items for the Hussein inner circle and for weapons with "allies", like Germany, Russia and France, and then China benefited too.
The people of Iraq got very little benefit.

The US is the one nation, that due to its inherent Christian roots, works toward promoting free will among people. Nothing is perfect, but allowing yourself to hate your own is self-destructive and harms us all.

You make these accusations against the US as Russia has gone in and claimed much of Arctic, which had been under international jurisdiction for its protection.

Russia is the country which cut off gas to Ukraine and Georgia last winter to gain political power over them again, and threatened Europe with the same. The Eupropeans rely so heavily on the Russian supply for their winter heat, they would be literally powerless. Yet you would rather dwell on the US?

Open your eyes and your mind, please!

That's the line the Oil Companies push. But the fact is that the US EXPORTS more oil than we get from the Middle East. Bring the Alaska oil fields production home instead of selling it in Asia and we could tell the ragheads to kiss off for as long as it took to shift to alternative energy and renewable fuels.

I've often wondered why they didn't use their power over their oil to get their way with America.

I think you don't understand basic economics. Money talks and BS walks. The US controls another third of the world's oil supply...that which is in or near the US...and we cannot use it. What good is "controlling" oil supplies if you cannot get them to refineries?

Interesting point! You know, as a truck driver, I know personally how people will react if they can't get their milk, chicken, steak, cloths or electronics, because they all get to your home by truck. Without Diesel, America Stops!!
Very Interesting Question!!!
