return to sex after giving birth? And what was your situation? I mean did you have stitches? Did you tear? And was the first time painful for you? I had a second degree epesiotomy and a small tear...but the stitches are gone and the tear is completely healed. My bleeding has also stopped. I'd like to "celebrate" the new year with my hubby tonight but am a bit apprehensive. So what were your experiences? Thanks a bunch :)

With my first I waited 6 weeks. It wasn't sore really but it was really tight (yes I said tight, not loose). I had two spots that needed one stitch.

With my second I had a second degree tear that took I think 8 stitches. We waited two weeks. It was a little tender.

Just be sure to use a lot of lubrication and stop or change positions if it hurts.

I waited two days...I didn't tear or anything. It felt a little uncomfortable, and different, but didn't really hurt. Just took it easy. Good luck!

Most doctors recomend waiting 6 weeks espically if you have had an epesiotomy or tears. I had problems having my first and had a 4th degree epesiotomy and it did hurt the first time after the 6 weeks and I did wait the entire time. I had a lot of stitches that time. I just had my third baby and I was a little naughy this time, and waited just 2 weeks. I didn't have any stitiches this time or anyother problems, so I felt that it was ok. And it was. I think you need to just trust how you feel and how your body is. If you feel up to it, then try. just go easy. If not, there is oral sex and if your hubby is anything like mine, that will be just great for him!!!
Have a great new year!!!

I had a c section and we waited till 5 weeks post and it was a little uncomfortable but not painful. My dr. had given us the all clear before we returned to the activity in question and you should think about doing the same.

I had two small episiotomies and I had 4th degree tears - all the way - my doctor said she stitched me as far as she could reach. I was terrified of sex for a long time. It hurt and was really sensitive the first time. Use tons of lube and tell your husband to be patient and understanding if you can't finish. You can always try other things to please each other. I'm 24 weeks pregnant w/ #2 and never in the mood - my poor husband.

With my first, I had 2 stitches and once they dissolved, I had sex right away. It was a little painful, and felt different, but we were careful and it was awesome! When I had my second, I had no tear or anything and had sex a week and two days later. I figured it would hurt, but I tried by myself with a toy beforehand to make sure that I was ready. I had also almost completely stopped bleeding, but that didn't play a part in my decision to try. It didn't hurt at all and it was AMAZING!!!!!!! If you have something to try with beforehand, then I would say do that first just to test the waters a little. Good luck and congrats on the new baby!!!!!!

6 weeks is the norm. I did not have any tears or stitches so there was less apprehension. Check with your doctor, at your six week exam they will give you the green light if it is okay.
