Even if you just glance at it from the corner of your eye, will that still prevent the boiling action?

I think it has something to do with quantum physics, where observing or measuring an action will change its outcome.

In quantum physics, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle is the statement that locating a particle in a small region makes the momentum of the particle uncertain, and conversely, measuring of the momentum of a particle precisely makes the position uncertain.

Ask a silly question and you will always get a 'DAH'.

Yes, I think if nobody attended or witnessed a horse race, the outcome would be completely different, but that could be hard to prove.

Depends on how many jalapenos were in the chili.

Of course not. I've watched them for HOURS and they never did.

That's why whistling tea pots were invented. They're enclosed so you can't watch them and when they do boil, they whistle at you.

Yes, when I didn't have anything else to do. Nothing to read. Funny you ask that, I went outside last night for two minutes came back in and the pot of soup was boiling all over, if I am in the room it takes forever.

Nope, but standing over the pot waiting for it to boil makes the wait feel sooooo much longer. Much better to do something while you're waiting.

well if you do not have a heat source applied to the pot it will never boil. however if you have it on the stove and the burner is on high heat setting you can watch it and it will still boil

Yes. How quickly it will boil depends on what's inside.
