The alleged ringleader of US troops who killed 24 unarmed Iraqi civilians in 2005 in Haditha will not face murder charges, a US Marines spokesman said.
Sgt Frank Wuterich, 27, will stand trial for voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, dereliction of duty and other charges, officials said.
The decision was made by Lt Gen Samuel Helland, who is overseeing the case.
Sgt Wuterich is the last of four marines to have the murder charge against him dropped.

There is a problem with calling American soldiers animals .. It insults the animals..
Murder is murder and the price should be paid.

As to been there... The locals are not animals they are freedom fighters trying to rid their country of the parasitic Americans who are their to steal their oil..Waging a war that all the world calls illegal That means against all human rights and the Geneva Convention, (oh yes Bush tore that up didn`t he so he could order torture of civilians)
Evil regeme lead by the biblical beast..!!

Twenty-four Iraqi civilians, including three women, seven children and several elderly men, died at Haditha, in Anbar province, on 19 November 2005.

Doesn't matter that this was Americans doing this. This was plainly wrong surely by all right minded folks standards.Going around indiscriminately killing old men, women and children to vent your anger at another soldier being killed is murder plain and simple. It wouldn't have been accepted of the British if it had been committed in Northern Ireland so why should it be considered acceptable by some posters because it's in Iraq.
Arguing about what terrorists do does not make this atrocity right. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Actions like these serve only to dishonour the discipline and proffesionalism of decent soldiers. These people who died are caught in the crossfire of an uninvited invading army and Al Quaida insurgents.

What is done in our name should always be questioned. If it isn't then we lose all honour.

One further point :Posters have mentioned that things like this happen in the fog of war. This sadly is very true and something most folk accept and rightly so.In this case though the killing rampage went on for a number of hours. There was no fog here. This was a killing spree.

If there is evidence that they have committed murder then they should stand trial. God knows how many things of this kind have happened over there that have gone unreported.
Yes tensions will run high when one of your own is killed but there is no room for this in an military outfit at all but this smells of a cover up.

Jim g is right. it's always one sided with you.

what about all the suidice bombers in the UK. adults and children killed. do you think those sickos worry about who they kill when they let their bombs off?. the one that did not detonate in the underground was standing next to a woman and her child. he didnt bother that they would have been killed if it had gone off...... does that not sicken you. I think you sicken a lot of people.

i note that you only reply to people who will not give you an arguement. you are so full of the brown stuff Kamran.
like someone else said why don't you go and join the Iraq army and fight the americans.....but wait...that would mean leaving the comfort of your little pc world, surrounded by all your cyber mates who wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire in the REAL world.
You do not know what these soldiers are going thru. It must be horrific. and don't you tell me that the iraqis haven't committed atrocities against uk and usa.
just shut up Kamran and give your ranting a rest. people are getting fed up of you. havent you noticed with all your thumbs down you get every time you answer anything?.
get a blood* life boy, get out there and get pi**ed like normal
19 year olds...IF that is your real age.

Kamran......how do you kill a college???
C.O.L.L.E.A.G.U E ....!!
and Been there done That was calling the Iraq soldiers animals...NOT the Americans.
Can you read or spell properly at all? some college you must go to...IF you go to one that is!

kamran, you're speaking way out of line - i'm with jim g - you're all one sided about this. If it wasn't Americans, you wouldn't have a thing to say about it

You have NO - repeat - NO IDEA what these boys are going through. I do feel very bad for the civilians though.

We can't even imagine how these men feel - they can't rest one wink for months because they know at any minute they can be killed. Have you ever REALLY thought about what its
like for them? I think since you are so interested, you should enlist and go see what it's like. For some reason I don't think that will ever happen

No, and it wouldn't sicken you if the boot was on the other foot. War is war and highly regrettable things happen. Do you see suicide bombers as highly regrettable? Do you think that the Americans should just lie down and take it? Do you know anything about the fog and terror of war? I bet you don't.

Unless you have in a similar situation, don't think you can judge.
Bad things happen all the time in war, its not meant to be a bed of roses and you look after your own.

No, it doesn't sicken me any more than the murders of English and US troops by dissidents. We are at war with Iraq and people die during wars it's ridiculous to bring charges against soldiers doing exactly what they were trained to do.

No it doesn't sicken me, then again I didn't think they would charge him in the first place so no disappointment. Do you Kamran remember the guy they jailed for the Mai Tai outrage all them years ago. Well I do and I think he done something in the end like forty hours in jail each for every little girl and boy his men murdered that day.
