You could do some independent research on different schools that you're interested in. E-mail the schools, request brochures and all that junk.

While you're waiting for your brochures to arrive in the mail, start working on arguments as to why you think a boarding school is a good idea for you. Are you stuck in a rut with your friends and you want a new environment? Do you want a higher level of education - are you seeking a prestigious school so that you have better access to elite universities? Are you trying to gain independence from your parents? "Because your dad went to boarding school" is not a solid argument.

Once you've got all your information, brochures and good arguments have a discussion with your parents.

Cost is a major factor. Is it even financially feasible for your parents to send you to a boarding school? If they can't afford it, are you able to work to earn some money? Can you gain access to scholarships? Do you have competitive marks?

You have to think about this. Ask yourself why you want to go to a boarding school. If you're serious about it, try discussing it with your parents without getting into an argument. Perhaps you could post more questions on yahoo asking for someone who has actually been to a boarding school to help you and give you their experiences.

If you want freedom, a boarding school may not be the best idea... my cousins attended boarding schools and their days were scheduled to the minute! They had specific wake up times, meal times, classes, designated study time and quiet time/bed time. When they got to university they were lost. They had no idea how to budget time. They were so used to someone scheduling their days that when faced with freedom they were lots. Your weekends are not playtime, you cannot just run around and do what you want. You'll still have certain rules and curfews...

Unless you're willing to pay for it yourself, you're still at the mercy of your parents. Perhaps you could start negotiating better curfews and proving to them that you don't need strict rules.
