err, well it's a bit of a random question for a guy but long story short, my girlfriend is coming back from her city for new year's and i wanted to pack her favorite dress and the rest of the outfit for a surprise outing once i meet her...
and now i'm having trouble with the "rest of the outfit" part.
is it weird to wear black opaque stockings with black open toed heels?

YES.
it's a huge no-no.
if you want to pack her stockings, make sure the heel/shoe is the same color as the stocking.
that's such a cute suprise!

yeah probably not dude..
the only stockings that go very well with open-toe shoes are nude/transparent stockings that have a sheer toe/sandle foot!
I would suggest try different shoes (ie: closed toe) or go get expensive nude/transparent coloured stockings!

It is a big no no unless your over the age of 70! LOL!, They do sell pantyhose for open toe shoes, its kinda like a little piece of fabric that goes in between the toes, but the toes are still out and not covered by the pantyhose. I think DNKY makes it, if you can go to Macy's or Nostrums or a Dillard's (if you have one in your area) and have a sales lady in the hosiery department help you. That is real sweet of you to surprise her. Good luck!

well, personally, yes it is. instead of black stockings, set out some black or red nail polish! it would look amazingly adorable!!

it depends on how much you can see of the stocking with the shoe. if it is a peep toe shoe, its fine. but if its a strappy kind of shoe, than no. if its not strappy but you can see the toes a lot than no.
