hey, i want to eventually go to pharmacy grad school but alot of schools dont actually have a pre pharmacy major, so could i major in chemistry? in schools where there IS a prepharmacy major, you only go to undergraduate school for two years then graduate school.. how would that work if i major in chemistry? would i have to do four years and then another four years of grad school , or two years of chemistry then pharmacy grad school?

I attend the University of Cincinnati. Click on the following link to see what we require for Pre-Pharmacy students: http://pharmacy.uc.edu/pharmd_prereq.cfm

This is pretty standard of the majority of pharmacy colleges in the US.

As long as your Chemistry major covers these courses, you should have no problem applying to pharmacy school.

Remember... the hardest part about pharmacy school is getting in! Good Luck on your pharmacy endeavours, you'll have fun!

Pre-pharm is not a major. It is an advising path normally. You don't need a bachelors, you just need to complete the prereqs. It's 2-4 years of undergrad and than 4 years of pharmacy.

Check with the Pharmacy School that you want to go to, and work with their admissions office to map out a plan.

If you go to a school that does not offer a Pre-Pharm major, choose Chemistry, Biology, or Biochemistry as your major. These will definitely help you to get the prerequisites out of the way for Pharm School.

The Pharmacy schools that I have looked at don't require an undergraduate degree to be admitted to their school, but most of those accepted to the schools already have at least a BA/BS Degree.

A major in chemistry would help, but you'd still have to complete the pre-reqs for pharmacy school that is done by completing a pre-pharmacy program.
