Technically, you can only have 1 router, because a router connects you between an internal and external network.

You CAN however change the 2nd router to function as a switch.

You can have as many switchs as you want since a switch connects devices locally and passes all external requests onto a router.

The exact step by step depends on your router. Try checking the manufacturers website as they sometimes have FAQs or a Knowledge base to help you.

The basic steps would be as follows.
Connect directly to the second router using a PC
Browse to the admin page of the router.
Turn off DHCP so it will not give out its own IP addresses.
Turn off Wifi if it has it.
Change it's internal IP from fixed to Automatic, so it gets it's IP from the 1st router
OR, set its IP outside of the range that the 1st router gives out and set the default gateway to match the 1st router.
Example...
If the 1st router gives out IP addresses 192.168.0.100 to .200, give the 2nd router an IP address of 192.168.0.99
Set the default gateway to 192.168.0.1
subnet should be 255.255.255.0
DNS can be blank since it will broadcast most requests and use the 1st routers DNS to resolve internet addresses.

Once you apply all these changes.. the 2nd router will probably need to reboot itself for the settings to take affect.
While it's rebooting, plug it into the 1st routers network ports on the back so it can get an IP.

Sometimes a 2nd reboot is needed.

Believe it or not, the tech support department of the router manufacturer is really pretty knowledgeable about this sort of thing and usually gives free tech support.
Try giving the manufacturer of the 2nd router a call and see if they can walk you thru it.
