I know it's going to be nice to watch at midnight, but isn't it crazy spending that much money of fireworks tonight, when it could all go to charity instead.

I agree.
Yes, the fireworks do look lovely.
But all year, motorists are put down for driving cars and polluting the air, adding to global warming, all that stuff about the carbon footprint etc etc. Yet then there is thousands of fireworks going off in a few minutes!
Hypocrisy or what!
The money should go to charity. 1 million is a ridiculous amount to spend on fireworks, and that is just London, there is celebrations going on in Scotland and Ireland as well, not to mention little park celebrations. ( Local ones. )
I think that maybe next year they should think about giving the money to people who actually need it, why don't the government put it towards finding causes and treatments for diseases and illnesses.

It's a disgrace. I agree with the comments about the NHS/police/homeless etc but also think about all the wildlife and also domestic animals who live in total terror while this "fun" goes on.

Think they are wonderful ,a lovely show to be proud of we are rivalling Sydney almost,We are all giving to Charity all the time ,Its our turn to enjoy,

I THINK IT IS TOTALLY OBSCENE TO WASTE THIS MONEY ON FIREWORKS (WHICH I HATE) WHEN THE NATIONAL HEALTH AND THE POLICE FORCE ARE MORE THAN STRETCHED TO THEIR LIMITS.
WE MUST BE SOFT IN THE HEAD TO EVEN VOTE FOR ANY OF THE PEOPLE WHO "RUN" THIS COUNTRY LET ALONE PUT UP WITH IT.
WE SHOULD BE MORE LIKE (DARE I SAY IT) THE FRENCH IN THESE MATTERS AND BE REVOLTING!

It is ridiculous, when there are so many nurses losing their jobs, because the NHS cannot afford to keep them. It is beggars belief.

My feelings exactly. When there are thousands of homeless and vulnerable kids on the streets of London, I think that spending this amount of money for it to go up in smoke is obscene to say the least.
