If an NFL team has two tie games, is that considered better or worse than a win and a loss?
Another words, if one team is 10 - 6 and another team is 9 - 5 - 2, which team is ahead? Or are they considered the same in the standings?

The team that is 10 - 6 is better than the other team for having 1 more win. The win is always better than the tie. BUT the tie is always better than the loss! so if you have a team that is 9 - 5 and an other that is 9 - 5 - 1...the team with the tie is in a better position.

If a regular season game is tied after regulation, one 15 minute sudden death overtime period is played. If neither team scores in the period the game ends in a tie. A playoff game would have as many overtime periods needed to determine a winner.

some else got it right but I'll see if I can make it easier.

3 teams:
Team A) 10-6 = .625 winning %
Team B) 9-6-1 = .594 winning %
Team C) 9-7 = .563 winning %

If you convert the records into winning percentages it becomes clear .

A tie is Not a Loss. Never heard of a tie game in the NFL.
Don't they play until someone wins ?
