What state do you live in? If you live In a northern state legally because It gets so cold they can't shut off your power. Go to your local Department of Human Resources to see If you can get some assistance. God bless!

Is it unusually high? If you think it's an error you can call them and ask them to come out and re-check your meter. If your company is like mine there is no charge for that if the reading was wrong, but there is a charge for it if the reading turned out to be correct...so if you think that bill is right than don't do it.

If you can, apply for a zero interest credit card with a no fee cash advance. You can get it in as little as 5 business days. Bank of America has a 6 months promotional credit card offer. They will put the money directly into your checking account. Pay off the electric bill and any other outstanding bills with your cash advance money. Then pay your credit card efficiently and quickly and close it before the promotion is up.
