Move out of town into another juristiction to evade your civic duty. If it is a local court, or out of the country if it is a federal court.

Have your doctor sign off on the forum that you can't go...my chiropractor signed for me (yes I have a bad back and can't sit very long). But it depends on where you go, the city court I went to was a pretty nice, not crowded, and they gave us really long lunches when it was not busy.

Going to court in los angeles is not nice...a hundred people packed into a little room, they made us stay until 5 each day...and the traffic driving into the downtown area is just crazy.
