Why do you suppose this is?

Generally speaking, straw polls are fundraising events where people pay to cast their vote. For this reason, they are considered important by some political watchers because they represent the opinions of very motivated voters who will most likely show up on the actual election day.

To be honest, this is the first election where I haven't heard the results of the straw polls being blasted all over the media and taken into consideration for determining the popularity of candidates. I suspect this has much to do with who is winning most of the straw polls now.

I believe one of the Straw Polls in California was actually canceled at the last minute because the Ron Paul supporters clearly out-numbered the other candidates. (see link below)

I don't really pay attention to straw polls because they don't realistically represent the voting community as a whole. However, I feel that Dr. Paul has more of a chance than his naysayers so desperately deny.

Most of those polls only had a couple of hundred participants, or less. He hasn't been doing well in the larger straw polls. For example he came in 5th in Iowa, a poll of about 15,000 people or more than the total of all the other polls combined.

C'mon! Ron Paul is not going to win or even come close! No one knows who he is or pays any attention to him except on the internet.

Or any other non-scientific poll where anyone can vote and do so as often as they like, yes.

Why do you suppose this proves anything?

Hey Ben J... Are you saying that people who use the internet are not normal people, and that they are not the ones who are going to be voting? I just want to make sure I understand you so I can make better fun of your ignorance.

He has a strong internet following of people much more likely to take a straw poll. Normal people don't care about polls or Paul.
