Bob Marley had more of an impact on my life both musically and socially. Musically, I love incorporating reggae styles into punk music (sort of like sublime). Most everything I write has a distinct marley-esque twist to it. Socially, Marley impacted me for all the reasons you just mentioned. All he wanted to do was spread the love!

Jimi Hendrix was the prophet of love and peace.
What a guy.
as a kid we once read an article ( jimi was still alive) that his family lived in seattle. We called a James Marshall Hendrix and told him how much we loved Jimi and please send a guitar pick.
That following christmas Mr. Hendrix sent a christmas card to us and a letter and one of Jimi's guitar picks.
Jimi's wasnt very famous in the USA then. I will never forget how down to earth his family was.
A older teacher moved to our area in those days and told us she had previously taught secondary eduction adult classes at Fort Campbell Military reservation and had a young black soldier named james marshall hendrix and he was a cheerful student.
She told us that after she heard us yakking about Jimi in school. Jimi did indeed join the military (for a short time) so Im certain Jimi and I had the same english teacher ..lol..
Sorry to go off on a tangent but Thats my memories of an awesome musician that the world will never see again.
As for Marley , he had a different style but was the great musician the world will never see again either.

Honestly, neither of them had a huge influence on my life. However, I do admire Bob Marley's music and its messages, and Jimi Hendrix's ability in playing the guitar. The biggest musical influence for me was undoubtedly James Brown, the Godfather of Soul.

Definitely Bob Marley. He was an ambassador for peace. Plus, I play the sax and love playing his music.
