It's safe, but I don't recommend you do it. She is a baby now, but she is her own person and its a choice that she should make on her own, even if it seems that she would ask in the future anyway, it's still her right to pick, and its still her body. I've heard a horror story of my three year old cousin's friend's earring getting ripped out by a mean boy on the playground. Earrings aren't just decorations, they're a responsibility. They pose the danger of getting ripped out, and have a big potential of becoming a choking hazard.

at that age your daughter would be more inclined to play with the earrings which can easily lead to tearing and/or infection. Because she is already 9 months old i would just wait until she can make that decision when she is old enough. There is no reason to inflict pain if the end result ends in your daughter not wanting them done in the beginning.

If you are asking a bunch of strangers if you should do something like that, then I'd say its best you don't do it. Since you are unsure, let it be her decision or right of passage when she's old enough.

It is safe as long as they have their shots up to date. At two months, your daughter should have gotten the all the proper shots she needed to get her ears pierced. You need to go to a place that has trained professionals to pierce ears. It is nice to go to a place that pierces baby ears all the time because they sometimes pierce both ears at once so that the babies do not have to feel the sting twice. If you have a Claire's store in your area, I would go there. Best wishes and
Happy New Year!

BTW, I got my daughters ears pierced last month and she didn't shed a tear. It is not as bad as people make it out to be.

It's safe, but make sure you go to a reputable place that you know and can see that everything in a sterile environment. I got my daughters ears pierced when she was only 6 weeks old. I couldn't bear to watch so my mom and sister did it for me, I waited outside the building. When she came out, she had her new little tiny sapphire earrings on and looked so cute, and her little nose was all red from her crying. I felt so bad, but hey she'll never remember that experience.

my friend who's hubby is indian has had both her daughters ears pierced when they were about 6 weeks old - its tradition i think - the kids were none-the-wiser - i think because they were so young, but at 8 months there is a huge chance she'll pull them out and get them infected.
