Okay, so i am a dancer and i think i have something wrong with my hips. Everytime i go into a middle split, i have this sharp pain right where my ball and socket meet together. My hips crack when i do grande jetes (spelling?). Because of the pain in my hip when i do my middle split, i cannot go down any further in my split. I feel like if i do go down further my hips will break. The pain in from about the ball and socket joint all the way to the front of my hip. PLEASE HELP!!

nobody can MAKE you stop dancing. just go to the doctor, tell them you need help but you won't stop dancing. see what they have to say. i have been dancing for 12 years and over the last couple years i've had knee, ankle, neck, and back problems. all i did was go to my regular doctor and told her that i had to do something but absolutely would not stop. she referred me to a physical therepist, i went there for 6 months, and now i'm quite a bit better. and i never stopped dancing!

You may have pulled and muscle or tore something, if that is the case, what I do is stretch it still but do it carefully so it doesn't stiffen up. You could also give it some time, maybe take it easy, tell your dance teacher and if it doesn't get better, see an orthopedic doctor.

Good Luck

See a trainer, a doctor, or a physical therapist.

it sounds like you pulled or tore a muscle. If your dance conservatory has a trainer, talk to them because they know dance specific injuries. If not, go to a doctor.
