Do I have to own my truck (with title) before I can get it painted a different color?

I have a truck and I am making monthly payments. It'll be mine in about 3 years -- title and all. I was looking into getting it repainted. Do I have to own the truck (with the title) before I can paint it a different color? Or can I have it painted even though I am still making payments on it.

Re-read your purchase contract to see if there is anything in there,about modifications to the vehicle without letting the bank know,they might feel that fraud is in the works and have every right to grab their vehicle if they think you are about to pull a fast one on them.ask them and let them see the finished product afterwords,if ok'd.they may need to amend the loan contract info as color is different than original contract color.play on the square with the loan company.and junkyrd is correct about the insurance part of the deal.

u can do anything u want 2 the vehicle, as long as u r ok losing everything u put into it should something happen 2 ur credit and u lose it back 2 the bank.

i do suggest if placing a paint job, wheels, etc on the vehicle that afterward u take it 2 ur ins co and have them take a pic 4 ur file and augment the value in case of a theft or total loss so u can get what u put into it back instead of just book value.

you can have it painted but make sure of your buying contact before you do or ask the place that has financed you this issomething to make sure of

The paint shop doesn't care if you own it or not . as long as you have the cash.
