I was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout in the 50s .... made it to Life Scout as I recall. I value the experience I had doing that as a youngster because I came from a fairly lousy homelife and the Scouting introduced me to some grownups who tried to set me straight about a lot of things.
I began the process of trying to become a Scout Master in the early 1980s in Texas, but about that time several Scout Masters were being accused by kids they'd gotten crosswise with of molesting them. Turned out it was untrue, but the accused had to spend a lot of money on attorneys and had their reputations bashed in the process to clear it all up.
I decided I didn't need that in my life.

Both my wife and I have been involved with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for the past 20 years. My daughter earned her silver award from Girl Scouts. Both of my sons are Eagle Scouts, my youngest having earned his, this past fall. Very worthwhile organizations. I'm proud of all of their accomplishments.

I was in Girl Scouts for 6 years. I loved all the things I learned and esp going on camping trips. I volunteered for activites when my daughter was a Brownie. For example we took the Brownies to the circus. It took about 2 1/2 hrs to get there. I still have pictures, I think the moms had as much fun as the girls. Thanks, those are nice memories.---Luvs

Not me personally, but two of the "mature" women (both in their 60's) I work with are avid scouters. I think they have Silver Beaver awards or something. I know they are always working at camporee's and day camps and things like that. I had girls and put in my time there.

I was Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, when my son was a boy.
That was the most fun thing I have ever done in my life.
We had our meeting in our garage. It had a furnace and we were able to meet year around in our garage.
We nailed a piece of wood over the door with Den 32, wood burned into it.
The boys all burned their names in the sign.
We went to the tannery for a guided tour and they gave the boys leather and we made moccasins, went to so many interesting places, made our own kites out of garbage bags for the kite flying contest, the list goes on and on.
My son and these boys are now in their early 40's and still come to visit with me and reminisce about the day they were Cub Scouts.
Thanks for the memories.
