My 4x4 in my 1988 S-10 suddenly stopped working. It had been working fine and when I went to put it in 4 wheel drive yesterday, I had no 4x4 [high or low]. The 5 speed seems fine otherwise.Any ideas ? It seems that I had to replace some `switch' a few years ago maybe on the transfer case, but I can't remember.

It feels like a CV joint to me however the 1st element i might do is pull the hub lock covers and view the challenge of the areas. steel shavings in the cap isn't a stable sign.
