1. A cubic Polynomial function f has constant term -2 and leading coefficient 4. Suppose f(2)=24 and f(-3)=-86. Find the cubic plynomial.

2. multiply: (x-5)^3....show me the shortcut

3. How many times does the graph of the function intersect the x-axis? List the zeros of the function and tell which, if any, are double or triple zeros.
y=(x+1)(x+2)^2(x+4)

1. Let the polynomial f(x) = 4x³ + ax² + bx -2.
Plug in the 2 values to get 2 equations in 2 unknowns:
32 + 4a + 2b -2 = 24
4a + 2b = -6
2a + b = -3
and
108 + 9a + 3b -2 = -86
9a + 3b = -192
3a + b = -64
2a + b = -3
a = -61 b = 119.
The answer is 4x³ - 61x² + 119x -2.

2. Just use the binomial theorem and Pascal's triangle:
(x-5)³ = x³ -3*x²*5 + 3x(5²) -5³ = x³ -15x² + 75x -125.

3. The zeros of this function are x = -1, x = -4(single)
and x = -2(a double zero).
The graph crosses the x-axis at -1 and -4 and
is tangent to the x-axis at x = -2.
I don't know exactly what "intersect" means if
you have a point of tangency.

Question 1: Evaluate the expression when k = 2 and n = 4.9. kn = kn means multiply k and n, giving: 2 * 4.9 2 * 4.9 = 9.8 Question 2: Which of the following are integers? −17/7,−32, 50, and 0.7. Integers are whole numbers that can be on the number line. -17/7 is not a whole number because it is just below -2. 0.7 is not a whole number because it is less than 1 but greater than 0. 50 and −32 are the only integers. Question 3: Solve the equation. Check your solution. −27 = −9y To get y by itself, you need to divide both sides by -9: -27/-9 = -9y/-9 Note that the -9 cancels out on the right, leaving y. On the left, we have a negative over a negative, meaning the answer will be positive. Now we take 27/9 = 3, leaving it positive, we get: y = 3

1. im not sure how to do this on paper, but plug in -2x^4 in ur graphing calculator in L1. then put in 24 in L2 and -86 in
L3, and see where all three graphs intersect with the trace function.

2. anything to the third is a^3 - a^2b - ab^2 + b^3
so the answer to ur equation is :
x^3 - 5x^2 - 25x + 125

3: everytime a factor exists, it touches the x axis. for example (x+1) means it touches the x axis at -1. so this function touches at -1, -4, and twice at -2 (squared is a double zero; you can also put this in your graphing calculator to check)

hope this helps and good luck.
