I would say about 6 hours actual work time. That includes one hour of web surfing, checking email, etc and my two ten minute breaks plus normal going to the bathroom, etc.
It's hard to just sit and do work work work. Especially, if you have a boring new year project like I do right now. Typing labels for client folders is VERY boring. Plus business slow because people are on vacation.

8 Hour day?
I work 5:00 PM-5:00AM....3-4 days a week.
I keep 2 CNC Swiss style lathes running good parts...Which means QC checks, tooling changes making program offsets....
So in a twelve hour shift I work about 10 1/2
hours if everything runs OK....

I do as little work as I can get away with.
I usually work 3 long nights per week in a casino. It winds me up so much that I need the down time to find some peace.

I stopped calling it work when I put down my shovel and started sitting behind a PC all day. It's not a matter of time spent, it's the effort required. Like most, I get paid for 8hrs, but end up with about 10/day. Ever do 10 hours of manual labor, now that's work. (never again).

i would honestly say that less than half of the time i'm at work do i actually work. part of the reason for this is that there just isn't the work for me to do, but another reason is that when i do get assignments it takes me a lot less time to do than others. i've always been this way and in school would often be embarrassed to turn in exams when i was finished because it was much earlier than most.

Well, there are 365 days in a year, but we only work 8 hours or 1/3 of the time, so that brings us down to 121 2/3 days. I have every Saturday and Sunday off x 52 weeks a year which is minus 104 bringing me down to 17 2/3. I get 2 weeks of vacation so subtract 16 days. Now I'm down to 1 2/3 days. I get Christmas and my birthday off so actually my employer owes me a third of a day plus my annual salary.

I am scheduled 8, get paid for 8, but usually end up working between 8 and 12. I'm actually working during that period of time as well.
