Dear Realist: Perdendos's answer is very informative and helpful. However, Pyramid Schemes have a defined structure. Those who "on top" of the scheme are using others to make them more money. If you look at the structure of governments and structured religions they operate on the pyramid system. The rich get richer and the poorer get poorer. Remember the old "trickle down theory"? That sure hasn't worked now has it? Beware of any organization that requires $$$$ to become a member!! As well as, asking for personal or financial info. Many of the Internet companies provide information on scams they are aware of. Always - Follow the flow of money before you decide. You can also contact your State Dept. of Consumer & Business Services. Best of Luck - Hope this helps, Anita

The biggest pyramid scheme of all time is the Federal Reserve.
From their own site of structure:
http://www.federalreserveeducation.org/fed101/structure/

You won`t find any truth on the rest of their sites though.

It sounds like a pyramid scheme but sometimes they are difficult to prove or close shop before someon catches on. People are clever some will reverse the pyramid because technically that's not illegal. Amway, Avon, Nuskin, Primerica are all examples of possible pyramid schemes. I don't think any are in danger of being stopped now.

Yes, it will eventually fail. If you are one of the early ones you will make money, but if you are one of the last ones you will lose money.

Just like Social Security started with half a percent payroll withholding, now it is 12% payroll withholding, and doomed to fail when they can't economically raise the tax rate anymore, or provide benefits to everyone.

Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who is brave enough to discuss this issue.

Any pyramid scheme is illegal. Report it to your postmaster/mistress.

Good for you for not falling for it!
