Your premise is false.

My sister is a hard-core feminist who refuses even to shave her legs or armpits and refuses to even wear makeup. She's a stay at home mom raising three children.

I also used to babysit for a family where the mother graduated from Harvard and she was a very aggressive, extremely successful career woman. She had three daughters. So watch out!

Raj: There is no feminist "gene" that gets passed to offspring. As long as the idea exists that males are superior by virtue of their sex and that women deserve fewer rights, then feminism will persist. So in a way, your attitude only serves to fuel the feminist cause.

It's not just feminists, many women are planning not to now because whereas in the past it was expected, and a woman was looked down upon if she didn't now we can do what we want. I personally don't plan to have children, because I'm not really maternal and I would rather spend my time and money having fun and doing what I want with my husband.

In the past because it would be seen as so strange not to have children, women would just do it anyway. But people like me feel, why should we do something we don't really want to do just because it's the norm in society.

I don't think that's true. Where did you get your statistics from? That's just a generalization that you made up.

I'm a feminist and I plan to have children. Lots and LOTS of children.

If you are asking why some women don't have children, then you have a valid question that deserves an answer.

Some women may not want children due to:
-added responsibility and pressure
-they did not find the right person to have children with
(there are so many creeps out there)
-they are homosexual

Probably for the same reason many men aren't planning to have children. They don't want to become parents. There's nothing wrong with that in my opinion. Having children is not for everybody.

Umm, I know a lot of "Child-Free" women, including my girlfriend. None of them call themselves "Feminists". All the "Feminists" that I know have children.

As for women that don't want children; They don't want to be slaves to a high maintenance vanity item called a baby. It is that simple. One in five women in the USA feel this way, and so do their significant others (like me).

Think about it! The novelty of having a baby wares of really quickly. Most parents regret their choice. If you ever get a woman pregnant, you will regret it in the long run.

Those of us that are "Child-Free" enjoy vacations that people with children could never imagine. Yup that is about all there is to it.

Maybe they just don't want children. Not every woman wants to be a mother.

Who's "so many?" I've only known three or four of them before, and one of them is me. Only about 6% of all women are voluntarily childless. If there's a higher percentage of voluntarily childless women among feminists, it's because there's no other political movement that would support such a decision.

I am not at that place in my life yet. If that time passes, and I feel that I am emotionally and financially equipped to have a child, I will adopt. There are plenty of kids who need loving homes and I'm not vain enough to want to perpetuate my own flesh and blood.

I didn't plan on it - it is what it is. I wasn't exactly born with the silver spoon in my mouth, if you know what I mean.

EDIT
But, Shivs has 3 kids and is a stay at home mom, and that's just one example.
