So the SUV = 12. The sedan gets three more than 3 times so 3x + 3. Now we can substitute the 12 for x so n = 3(12) + 3

i THINK its D
but i'm not sure
i'll do it for you though lol
here is how you solve D:

3n+3=12
YOU SUBTRACT 3 FROM BOTH SIDES

3n+3=12
-3 -3
3 CANCELS OUT AND ITS LEFT WITH ONLY 3n AND 12-3 IS 9

3n=9
DIVIDE 3 FROM BOTH SIDES

3n=9
/3 /3

SINCE 3 DIVIDED BY THREE IS 0 YOU'RE LEFT WITH N
AND 9 DIVIDED BY 3 IS 3

your answer is n=3!

i hope i helped! ^_^ good luck

assume that you don't know how many miles/gallon the SUV gets.
Let this value be x.

so the SUV gets x miles/gallon.

the Sedan gets:
3 times the amount of gallons of the SUV, this means it gets: 3x

the Sedan gets:
3 more miles than 3 times the amount of gallons of the SUV, this means it gets:
3x+3

And that is the total amount of miles/gallon that the sedan gets.

BUT you know the value of x, it is 12.

so:
n = 3(12) + 3
