My son , who is 5, received a DS for Christmas, I was wondering what games would be good: age appropriate, educational, and fun. Someone gave us The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario World for gameboy advanced. We are looking for some games for the DS. Any suggestions would be great. Being as he is 5 and this is his first introduction to gaming. He is not very good. I am looking for something that will be easy and help build confidence.

zelda is probably too hard for him right now, and super mario world might be a frustrating challenge. super mario advance 4 (super mario 3) might be ok - my little brother loves that game.. and with his mental deficiency, he may as well be five

you can also go into local game stores, and look through their gameboy advance and DS areas. there are games focused on younger ages, like franklin the turtle for GBA (gameboy advance)

you'll find games like interactive storybook [http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=180686 ]

There's a game called "Smart Kid's Gameroom" that's specifically designed for very young gamers. It says ages 3 and up right on the cover. "Crayola Treasure Adventures" would also be good. You complete challenges by coloring in pictures with the stylus and you can also just color. I've played them both and they're both quality products that are very age appropriate for a 5 year-old. Games like Zelda and Mario may be difficult and a little frustrating for him. Good luck picking out games!

zelda is a fantastic game but it is too complex for a 5 year old, super mario is good, i suggest:
brain academy,
brain training,
mario party ds,
mario kart ds.

ive tried to put easy games to play with a mix of educational ones, they are all easy to play, brain academy is for younger children so i suggest that more than brain training at the moment.

good luck!

Hmm..
Go for New Super Mario Bros. It's a simple platformer, and is very fun.
As far as educational, there really isn't anything good for his age-range, in that catagory.

Since your son is 5, I would suggest Big Brain Academy which is a good educational and fun game that is for all ages, but it is not one of those Adventure type games like Zelda or Mario that he has for GBA. If he is into Action and Adventure type games then Big Brain Academy is not a good game for him.

If you want more info about DS games or other console games, I suggest you visit a website called gamefaq. They have a lot of info about gaming and they also have Reviews and Prices.
