I look for the cadidate that has the most conservative principles (mostly on fiscal issues, since I'm moderately conservative on social issues), believes strongly in capitalism and the free market, a smaller more efficient government, federalism, will appoint constructionist justices, upholds the Constitution, values America's sovereignty and cultural traditions, and has a voting record that reflects his committment to his conservative principles.

Two candidates fit that profile. Republicans Fred Thompson and Ron Paul. Ron Paul, in my opinion has too many outrageous ideas, is a bit of an isolationist, plus I don't think he can get enough votes to beat the dems. Thompson on the other hand, I think he can beat the dems.

the first person to stand up there and says they will do absolutely nothing for this country will get my vote as thats got to be no doubt the most honest person running for any office. With that statement you know you wont get screwed once hes sworn into office, but then once sworn in, everyone changes so who do you trust

What they have to say about the Issues that are facing this contries down fall.

Other than that it is just gossip and BS.

As an American, I look at their appearance. Are they a white Christian male with money? Does HE look like a guy I could play golf with? Do they tell me what I want to hear?

Basically do they appease my shallowness and simplemindedness? I don't like to think too hard.

Wait, I don't live in a red state.

Honesty and integrity.

Republicoms will list anything that comes to mind. Their list should actually be one line. They should simply say whichever Republican wins the primaries is what they look for in a candidate.
