...that a Pegasus isn't a winged UNICORN other than just being a HORSE. Because the Pegasus has a horn like the unicorn, therefore is a winged UNICORN! Makes hardly any sense to not name the creature a winged UNICORN, cuz of it's horn! It's been irking me forever, since one of my art teachers pointed out that it's a Pegasus, not a unicorn of any kind.
Anyone agree how WEIRD that is? >_< *shakes head*

Yeah, but the teacher told me it was a winged horse and not a unicorn, ayabinha...

WHOOP! There it is...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegasus

The definition states "winged horse" and in these pics of Pegasus, the creature has no horn, but I've seen Pegasus WITH a HORN before, too (just like in Sailor Moon Super S where Rini was great friends with Pegasus).

Traditionally, a unicorn was not a horned horse but a goat with a single, central horn. It came from Northern European Mythology.

Pegasus, on the other hand is from Greek mythology and was the name of a specific winged horse. (which had no horn)

Each of these mythological creatures came from very different and distinct cultures, just as the dragons of European legend have nothing to do with Chinese dragons.

Pegasus is a greek mythology creature, he just had wings. The Middle Ages had the unicorn (which didn't have wings).

I've seen people do all sorts of variations like black zebras with wings and a horn, but they're all just artistic renditions. The original winged horse was Pegasus--he had no horn. He sprung full grown from the blood of the Medusa when her head was cut off.
