i mean, it would seem like it would be painless...unless of course your fighting or something with all kinds of battle wounds....
i suppose if i were ripped apart in war i would sit there and just wait to die...if knew there was no hope...just keep telling myself it will come soon and i will be free....
but why are people so afraid to die?

Well personally I feel a part of this universe which isnt going to end any time soon. So Im really afraid Ill be reincarnated as a tuna and end up on your sandwich.

It's the reason animals fight to survive. Survival is what life does and dying is avoided at all cost. The fear of dying is the fear of not surviving, which is the fear of not being conscious. Consciousness it the underlying cause of evolution that God began in order to know Himself. So being afraid to die is actually the force of God wanting to know Himself by having evolved His consciousness in you, God.

In short, I would say that it is our deep and overwhelming sensual association with our physical reality, the material world that we physically are. I see that there is too little in the common mind in the name of spirituality, or transcendental thought to rouse sense of wonder in us about all things, and also about living and dying. This mind set causes people to fear death alongside most of the things in life. They might feel as though death would be the end of everything, their being. Death to them is just most frighteningly painful experience that they might relive again and again out of fear while still alive!
In this sense the pain, and therefore the fear, are all due to an overwhelming sense of physical embodied life, where hopes for the future, even the future in as life after death, and invigorating sense wonder belongs to the higher aspects of the mind when it comes face to face with higher realities of existence in order to understand them.

Hi night fairy! For some we aren't afraid to die and some are.
i been thinking and maybe people are afraid to die cause they been living for so long, and when their about to die they really don't know whats going to happen, in another words its like saying a child is afraid of the dark.
Maybe the movies and media correct our thinking, we see so many people die and leave love ones behind as tragedy, when we are about to go up there, my fear is i will just be like the stone statue that Medusa turn me into, like i can cry but i can't speak or move, real uncomfortable feeling when love ones weep.
So maybe when were about to die we ask ourselves silly questions like is it going to hurt or who is it going to affect. To me, afraid of dying is caused by me, cause i don't want to leave all that i seen behind: i just wanna live.

people are so afraid to die because we don't know what it's like. we don't truly know what's on the other side. we seek in religion what we see possible. i.e. heaven and hell in christianity.
i feel that when i die, my soul will undergo a purification process by which i will be reincarnated into another creature. i'm not a hindu or buddhist, but i believe that it's more likely for a soul to be 'recycled' than to spend eternity in one place.

I just don't want to go through a natural dissaster like global warmings end and then die!!! That sounds like it would really suck!!! Some people really want to die and arnt afraid of NE thing at all. Some people think that they have sinned too much and think they would go to hell, so they dont want to suffer for all eternity. we are afraid of the unknown. no one truely knows what will happen when u die, so therefore we are scared.its like suspense. we know wats happening around us, but somehow we know that there is an unknown.
