My younger sister just got her 1st semester grades for her senior year in high school and she's freaking out.

Here's the deal. I'm a junior in college, but she still lives with our dad in New Jersey and was hoping to attend college in the midwest, near my mother and much more of our family. She won't listen to me so maybe if you help me out she'll listen if more people start saying things.

She got accepted at her first four choices: Purdue, Ohio State University, Michigan State University, and the University of Chicago. Her semester grades are as follows: A, A-, A, A, A, D+. She took a class (a college class - dual-enrolled) that was obviously over her head but maintained the rest of her grades.

She's freaking out, as our our parents, that all four schools will revoke her acceptance upon seeing that horrific grade. Her GPA wasn't affected much, she still maintained above a 3.5 (non-weighted on a 4.0 scale). Do you think any of those schools would take away her acceptance?

There is a possibility that they might because it was a college level class BUT it's only her first semester so the college might realize that she probably didn't know much about what they were teaching, but all her other grades are great I think most colleges would want A students. So what if there is one D+, she should just study harder and make she she pays more attention in class. She should also maybe look into more colleges, I know of a great school my older sister has applied to and when we went to the campus in Massachusetts it was very nice. The grades do have to be good but, it's still worth a shot. I hope this helps, good luck with your situation!!!!!!!! :)

i've got by no potential heard of a college removing an popularity furnish as quickly because it somewhat is made. i think of maximum schools only look on the information that replaced into accessible on the time she utilized and could not even word of the D grade. i think of the only way an furnish may well be un-made is that if she dos not graduate from severe college. tell her to end sweating it. Of the colleges you pronounced, i think of Univ.of Chicago is the ideal college till, she desires to pass into engineering the place Purdue and Ohio State have great classes. She additionally should think of approximately the place she might desire to stay after college commencement because of the fact she'll make a great type of connections on the city the place she is going to college and that city might have the ideal opportunities for a destiny job.

I agree that I doubt her admission will be revoked by any of these schools. I also agree that the University of Chicago has the best reputation of these schools.

No. The only one I can speak of is Purdue. as far as their freshman acceptance rate goes, they've gotten more lax with their selectivity over the years. I believe it is the least selective of the three(assuming she's not a engineer or aviation major), so I highly doubt they would revoke your sis' admission. The real question is - did her gpa go up or down as a result of those mentioned grades? even if it dipped slightly your fine.

relax & best wishes

If you are accepted to a college, normally they will not revoke her attending the school, unless she obtains a criminal record before she shows up. The D grade may not transfer and she may have to repeat that class at the college she decides to attend.

not unless she fails. Also, tell her to go to university of chicago, it is the best choice.

I hope not. I certainly doubt that all of them would reject her. At any rate, freaking out won't help.

I hope everyone is encouraging her to go to Chicago -- it is the far superior choice.

No, I think she'll be fine. Most colleges understand a momentary drop in grades, as long as the overall trend is not affected.

I doubt it. Tell her not to worry. She just needs to keep up the rest of the year. She has already been accepted, and even if one school changes its answer it is unlikely that they all would. Just keep her spirits up and tell her not to quit.
