I understand that Nancy Pelosi was House Minority Leader before, so was she voted in by the Democrats in the House

If the Democrats didn't like her, could they vote her out anytime?

To get to the house leadership in either party a Representative has to be very good at rallying support behind legislation.

It doesn't necessarily matter so much what political issues this person favors, just whether they can get the job done. This is why Nancy Pelosi got to leadership positions. It also doesn't matter directly whether the person is well liked or not.

The only two ways these people are replaced are if they lose an election (I think Nancy Pelosi got around 85% of the vote in her district last time) or if they are seen as ineffective (this is why Newt Gingrich was replaced).

Added: Oh yeah, I forgot some recent Republican history; the third way a House leader gets replaced is if they are convicted of a felony or caught in some scandalous behavior.

The Democratic Caucus in the House, if they constitute a majority of the House membership, can vote for someone else to hold the position of Speaker. If the Republicans regain control of the House, their Caucus will elect a new Speaker. That is what happened when the Republicans gained control after the election of 1994 and installed Newton Leroy Gingrich of Georgia as Speaker.
Those are the rules of the House. No impeachment proceedings are needed to remove Ms. Pelosi as Speaker, nor are any needed to expel her from the House. That can be done by a majority of the House after a recommendation is made by the House Ethics Committee to do so. Such was the case with Adam Clayton Powell of New York many years ago.

I wish somebody would vote her out.I never figured the Democrats on this one, other than they knew she would fight President Bush on everything he ask for. Other. than that I am stumped. Her likability was almost to the single digit number.last I saw.
