When you respond here, do you actually answer the question asked or do you just kind of free-associate?

Question

For example, if someone says what did you eat for breakfast this morning, do you answer with the foods you ate this morning or do you start talking about what a good cook your mother was and that no one can make pancakes the way she did and most mornings you only have time for coffee?

Please note that I'm not saying one is better than the other. I'm simply asking about ways of responding.

I actually answer the question{but, sometimes, the question calls for "freestyling"} as in the "what do you think about this situation" questions that you ask, sometimes{oops, did I just "free-associate"?}

Since I don't really like to read or type alot and I don't have much time, I always get straight to the point I don't understand why people free associate really...

I can get a bit off topic, but I try to answer the question in my ofentimes rambling answers. Sometimes, I just get too lazy to type a long answer, though, but usually I can manage...
