you actually filled the rest of the crankcase, you are going to have to drain it out to the proper level and hope you didn't hurt the rings, rods, valves and seals. You going to lower the level and let it run until the extra oil dissipates from the intake and exhaust. it' going to smoke for at least a couple of days so i would recommend that you let it idle outside for a while once you lower the level. Goodluck

Just make sure that the bottle is still a little squishy. If not, that means the oil pressurized in the bottle and opening it will be like opening a shaken soda; hot oil isn't something fun to get all over you. If its squishy, you'll be fine. There shouldn't be any problems at all.

I would just go to my local oil change place and explain to them that it's overfull and have your oil changed. Then go to the car wash and clean the engine. The engine being clean will also help you find that leak you have. As far as damage, to your car, it should be fine as soon as you get your oil changed. Had you overfilled the trans, different story. Good luck to ya...

The oil in the intake is most likely from the crankcase vent that goes from the valve cover to the intake.
If you drain out the oil to the right level, it should be fine.

Drain it to the proper level and then use some gunk engine cleaner to remove the overage off the outside of the engine. Hopefully, you have not done any serious damage. How did you manage to put an "extra gallon" of oil in it?

Depends, you might have burned up the bearings, among other things. When you put too much oil in the oil froths (like beating a milkshake) and the oil cant be pumped to the engine. If you haven't yet learned the difference between carbs and injectors I would take it somewhere Drain the extra oil first. The oil in the carb/injestors might be cleaned out, but if you damaged the bearings or piston rings/sleeves then you're in trouble.

you need to drain the oil back out under the car there is a tank called the sump where the oil is stored on the bottom of that is a nut undo the nut and the oil will run out put a bowl there or summet run the car with the correct amount of oil in and the smoke should clear

I am confused you filled up your oil an extra gallon or your GAS? I think you mixed up the two. If you have an oil leak then you may want to use a half extra pint to a pint. A GALLON? your screwed.

Drain some out. Put a drain pan under the engine and take the drain plug out. Be ready to put it back in quickly. If you take out to much just add it back if you used a clean drain pan.
