the key element of a draft is that it is not an unconditional promise to pay, but a promise to decide whether to pay [or not] when the draft is presented.

usually, this depends on an examination of paperwork that comes back with the draft [or comes in to the office from another source].

drafts should be sent for collection via your bank. there is a fee for this service. the fee is not refundable. you do get a positive confirmation either way [paid or refused] with the collection process.

draft to a foriegn country could well require a month or longer to get results.

does this help?
