Because you don't really know which stance you're voting for.

Because I, for one, cannot make a decision on a certain candidate if he/she keeps changing their minds on the different issues at hand. They can't go according to what the next candidate's stance is or isn't. They have to form their own stance and stick by it.

"flip flopping is an indication of you are either pandering, lying, or unable to make a decision. All are really bad traits of a real leader."

"It tells me they have no convictions and will change with whomever tells them to"

A while back I read an article about some scientific tests. They determined that Republicans have a much harder time dealing with new/different information. Not that they weren't smart. Just had a hard time with processing new/different information. To a Republican, someone who changes their mind is weak. They feel that people should "stick to their guns". Liberals don't often view flip-flopping as a bad thing. New information comes up, and it changes the way you view a situation. How can it not? I mean, if I still believed everything I "knew" ten years ago, I would be a pretty naive, ignorant person. I've learned a lot in the last ten years.

Most voters vote based on hot topic issues, such as immigration or abortion. If a candidate is a flip flopper, a lot of the less intelligent in the population gets angry because they can't figure out if their candidate feels the same way they do.

No clue, because that is what reps are suppose to do, when they find out their constituents feel a different way than they do.
Their job isn't to represent themselves in congress, it is to represent us.

Changing one's opinion is the clear sign of an open mind and the willingness to investigate an issue. It shows capacity for critical thinking rather than being paid by lobbyists to think a certain way.

If you are in a war, and the plan isn't working, changing the plan would be considered "flip-flopping" to republicans, even though they don't know the new info that makes it a good idea.

If someone learns new information, and changes their stance on an issue, that means they are smart, not stupid.
