I ask this because i always felt like Republicans are in touch with the heart of America and Democrats are in touch with the heart of the World. Ideally Christians should be in touch with mankind as a whole, yet the majority seem to be republicans and seem to really only want to watch out for America's interests. (Sidenote: I realize that abortion may have a big part in that but then why not register independant?)

In hindsight I should have said "the majority"

Because Conservatism/Republicans are supposed to stand for traditional family values--thus that is the reason.

Not at all surprising. Chrsitians were the largest membership of the nazi party and the KKK - the republican party fits neatly with the other two. Christians seem to really enjoy being part of violent hate cults.

Most Christians are NOT Republican. They span the political spectrum. Most Christians don't even live in the United States!

I oppose Socialism and believe social programs violate the 10th amendment to the constitution therefore I cannot support any democrat

I think charity should be private and not a government function.

If you force a man to give to charity he is not giving it is being taken from him. No matter how noble the cause depriving someone of their property for something that is not allowed by the constitution is wrong.

Many conservative Christians have a rather narrow view of Christian values and thus have aligned themselves with the party that professes to support "family values." They would evidently prefer the party and candidates who wage an unjust war on people of another faith and refuse to care for the sick and needy here or elsewhere. Those who want America to be a "Christian nation" should think about forgiving one's enemies, loving one's neighbor (who the parable of the Good Samaritan makes clear is everyone), caring for the unfortunate, and working for peace and justice. It seems to me that liberals (in th US mainly Democrats) have a stonger conviction about being one's brother's keeper.

Most Christians are, in fact, not Repulblican. It is just that the Conservative wing of Christianity has been more vocal and has intentionally liked Christianity to Conservatism. There are MANY Christians who are democrats, and independants. However, many of these Christians believe in the separation of church and state and do not make their faith and party preferences indistinquishable.

Also, remember that Christians are all over the WORLD and I doubt that most outside the U.S.A would really support a republican agenda.

No, I dont think it is weird at all. And, no, I wont betray my party by registering as Independent, when Independent candidates are even more likely to be pro abortion than even democrats. But I wont vote for a Republican who is Pro Choice, either. I think Mr. Guilliani is finally hearing that, now that he has lost his front runner position. Mr. Guilliani would be a good candidate if he was Pro Life. NOBODY, but NOBODY will ever get my vote that votes to kill people for the crime of being unborn, as long as I shall live, I will support those people too young to speak up for their own rights.

because the Republicans ususally embrace conservative morals and values....that is why, although there are liberals who are also Republican and Democrats who are Conservative, the thing I find amusing is someone who claims to be a Christian and pro-choice...that just doesn't work like that...the BIBLE is in direct CONTRADICTION with ABORTION, and I have NEVER BEEN TO A CHURCH THAT SUPPORTS ABORTION whatsoever.....
