my boyfriend and i are going down south for a new years party at his dad's house. it's a small town.. should i dress up for a house party in a small town? i dont want to be the only one wearing something casual!!!??? what would you suggest?

wear something that is kind of in the middle so i nice casual dress and like 1 1/2 inch heels. not too high!

ask your boyfriend what he thinks would be appropriate. other than that you can look dressy and casual. a nice jean fitted jean is casual but you can make it dressy. have a fun!

When in doubt, overdress. It's better to stand out for being overdressed than for being underdressed. Plus, if you're overdressed, they'll likely blame your boyfriend for not informing you. If you're underdressed, they'll think you're a slob.

to be safe, ask your boyfriend what he thinks will be appropriate.
but you can't really go wrong with wearing a semi-casual day dress with pumps and some cute jewelry.
leave your hair down, because its more casual than if you do an updo.

wear something versatile, a woman in the fifties would call it a "party dress" something not too dressy and not too casual, something you would wear to the mall but something you would wear to go out, like to a concert. A nice pair of jeans with a VERY nice shirt should do but ask him, he'll know if its HIS dad's house.

Try a cute skirt with a dressy top. Definitely don't do jeans unless you plan on dressing them up with a sparkly top and accessories. High heels or cute ballet slippers are a must.
I always say it's better to be overdressed than underdressed. Besides, it's New Years...have fun with it!
