Just picked up an 88 Skidoo Stratus. Skis turn and handle bars turn, but the sled stays straight. Asked at a dealer and he said it was the wear rod. It doesnt look like there was any originally. Someone else said the Skegs? I dont know what or even where that would be. I thought this was suppose to be fun, not so much it keeps getting stuck.

The carbide runners that attach to the bottom of the ski's are gone. there are 3 or 4 bolts on the top of the ski that hold them on. you can get a variety of carbide sizes (0,4,6,8,10 inch). the more carbide on a runner the better you will turn. on the flip side, it will take more effort to turn the skis, and they are more expensive. take it to a dealer and they will fit your sled for the proper ones. they will install them for a small fee also, but ask them if you can watch so you can do it yourself next time.

The wear bars are a normal wear part and are cheap, about $6.00 each. There is a inner and outer. See web site below

There are replaceable wear rods on the skis usually. They help you turn on packed snow or ice. Your skis should work okay on trails unless they are out of alignment.

Are you getting any spark? Pull the plugs and examine for spark. Is the biggest ON? Is the kill change pulled out? If there's a tether, is it related? Are the carburetors getting gas? Is there gas in the carburetors? Are the gas lines no longer cracked or pinched?
