In order to get business I must send out the resturaunts menu's. Its expensive to have them sent through regular mail. Alot of resturaunts here have people put up the menus on peoples doors.I hired some people to do that, and today i had someone call and say that "I DONT WANT THESE MENU TO BE PUT ON MY DOOR, IF I SEE IT AGAIN I WILL CALL THE POLICE AND HAVE YOU ARRESTED". Now my question is that is it ILLIGAL?? to put up flyers on peoples homes? AM i breaking the law? And if some people dont want them then iI wont put it on their doors.. but can they have u arrested just for putting up flyers???

They cannot have you arrested for passing those out.
They are either a very angry person or it's a joke.

Contact your local newspaper. You can arrange to have enclosures in the delivered paper. May not be expensive.

You can post flyers anywhere you want. They can not arrest you for that.

I would check the ordinances where you live. I doubt that you could actually be arrested...a ticket and a fine maybe. Geez how hard would it have been for this person to just throw it away or use it as scratch paper. It seems a lot more effort went into calling you and complaining that just disposing of the offending piece of paper! Anyway, check your local ordinances to see if you are in violation. Hopefully you got this persons name and/or address so you won't put anymore on their door!

No it is not illegal. But they are normally not put on on peoples doors. They are put in their mailboxes and put in the handle of their doors.
The person who called was probably just annoyed but honestly they can call the police all they wants but you will not be prosecuted for advertisting your business this way. They can just throw it away if its not want it. You can ignore their phone calls and even release some stress by hanging up on them.

Yes it is illegal even though you own a restaurant. and again it is solicitating, and that is not allowed to be done.
Don't do it anymore, especially in virginia where everybody watches you like a hawk.
Go and get an authorization that allows you to pass out flyers.
I'm sure you can call the head office in va and ask them.

idk but sounds like he was having a bad day, i mean how hard is it for you jsut to throw away the flyer if you get it and dont want it..... I wouldnt worry about it
