Why don't people see that BET is racist.?

I'm not talking about the music or the shows... but their title. Its flat out wrong.

I want it to be called WHITE entertaninment tv. Cause its not hiphop tv or rap tv.. its BLACK entertaniment tv.

We don't have BET in Australia. But we do get reruns of Family Matters and The Fresh Prince of Bel air. I believe the character of Steve Urkel is doing wonders for race relations.

okay, in all seriousness though, though we say white is a race, it's actually made up of many different cultures. how about an all irish station, brits already have the bbc, or an all scottish station (i'd look at those....not that I wouldn't look at WET though, I'd tune in). white is too generic unless it incorporates all "white" cultures. think of BET as more of a cultural station (at least that's what it used to be, it's changed though) than a race station. I think people need to start seeing things as a culture thing rather than a race thing. race basically just means black, white, brown, red, yellow, etc. whereas culture brings in what makes them black, white, brown..etc. it brings in a rich history, which actually divides each individual race into subcatagories. for example. brown or hispanic is made up of many different cultures from mexico to brazil....not all of them are the same. each culture is different but still share some qualities. as a race their just latin, but as a culture there's so much more....it just enriches and enlightens people more that way.

It's self segregation. African Americans want to be treated as equals...yet they put themselves in a seperate category with BET. If you want to be equal...act like it.

well seeing as though every other freaking channel has nothing but white people on it, i think its ok that theres BET. i mean after all african americans have been through, people like you have to go and take things way out of porportion and complain that african americans have a television network called black entertainment television. its not that big of a deal and everyone needs to stop complaining about stupid crap like this.

Cause African-Americans are like still all torn-up cause of slavery and that being said, I don't see a Jewish Entertainment Channel.

Or maybe its cause we have a lot of culture but BET doesn't really portray it, they just play some Hip-Hop songs and Gospel on Sunday and thats it. Now their coming up with douchebaggish reality tv shows.I feel that BET could be doing a wayyy better job on informing and entertaining people with out African culture.
