I really want to be an actress and I dont know where to start. Does anyone know where I can audition for movies....or where I could find open auditions. I live in Michigan...so it doesn't matter where they would be...

TheatreDoc is absolutely right. You have a long way to go before you would be ready to audition for a real film. There's a lot you need to learn and understand before heading down that road. If this is truly something you want, do it right. Get into some acting classes. Start building a resume through theatre, student and local indie films. Make absolutely certain your parents are 100% supportive of your decision to do this or forget it until you are an adult and on your own.

Check out backstage.com & Actorsaccess.com. Also do a websearch for Michigan film and see what info you can find on your state's Film Association or Commission sites. They may have info on classes, auditions, and extra work.

Watch out for companies that promise you stardom for a fee. No legit agent charges up front fees, nor are they allowed by the union to refer you to any specific photographer. They also don't generally have classes. Those should be big red flags.

good luck,
Marianne

Michigan is one of the worst places to live to try to become a movie actor. You cannot audition for speaking roles in a film without an agent and you cannot get an agent without experience and training. No one ever auditions for a film if they have to travel a long distance to do so. It would be a huge waste of time, since an actor only gets a very small number of roles he or she auditions for. If you are a teen and want to be an actress, you will have to enlist the suport of your parents. They have to sign all agreements and contracts for you until you are 18, and they will better know how to promote your career than you do.
