If so, if this be true generally -- and not specific in some way --then do realize that being so is but a deciduous thing. Furthermore, "average" only indicates a relative state: are you average in music ability, average in being creative toward availing resolves to pressing circumstances, average in mathematics, average in looks, average, average...average? 'Maybe. But such infinitesimal references are truly of no account. You are tied to life in a much greater capacity, much more powerful. So what if for now some one part of you is attached to some dedicated state of being. Know that where you are is imperative to be so, without which your removal from that state could well send the physical universe into a spin, like a washing machine that has defaulted into the unbalance state, shaking and groaning.

Maybe the arc that you are measuring is too small. How 'bout leaving the realm of thought and measure of this world plane as we know it -- now stretch out and set forth way out into the no-thing of space. Go further out again -- even beyond this universe and into still an even more vast scope.

Now set forth and out again and then into a realm beyond the threshold of imagination... Somewhere out there in this Existence is your true point of reference, which purpose is scarcely anything to do with "average," so vast and powerful it is.

The likes of these perceptive points of views is what you truly, your very essence is that your purpose and meaning aligns with. 'That' is your link, not something so narrow as the measures that you may now be alluding to.

Let those go!

Because we humans have a desire to be larger than life. We see celebrities on the TV every day with not a care in the world about their finances and home life.

Let's put it this way: which would you rather have in school? Straight As or straight Cs?

Our concept of Self is conjured within us. We are like poets and we write the poetry of our Selves. Certainly, there are messages that come at us from all directions that shove us this way and that way. But, to be an intelligent, self-determining woman, you have to learn to stand firm in the face of those influences and form your own vision, your own Self. Low-self esteem is only partly the result of social messages. It is more the result of your own lack of guts and self-determination. Assume the helm of your own ship. You will never achieve your true potential and your due of happiness in this life if you compare yourself to others. We rise as women of honor and strength and character only by rising above OURSELVES day by day. To feel "average" is a failure of your responsibility to rise unto yourself. It's a poor excuse for not doing the hard work of bettering yourself within your own vision. Your poetry, "Why is it so hard to cope?" is beneath your potential dignity. Are you a weak child or a woman? Write the poetry of your Self to be more noble than that.

Edit: katie, please forgive, but I was unable to reach the blog. The link you provided above just opens a general main page. I am older and not so computer literate or familiar with myspace. Is there something I need to do after that link opens to get to the blog?

average people don't question the mold- you are already not average in your own way- the next question would be to define average- good luck with that!

I guess we have this inbuilt instinct because if everyone in the world had always been happy with being average, then the worldn't have progressed. People wouldn't have strived to be better, and invent things and make the world a better place.

I think it is because one yearns to be somehow different from six + billion people out there, have a reason for a place in this universe, be a superhero of a kind. In time you will discover that you are not so average, that you like things that many do not like or that you can do something better than anyone else in the world, even if that something might be peeling an apple in one go.

Find something that greatly interests you and become very good at it. Then you are no longer average. Just read a couple of books a week, and you are no longer average. There are lots of ways to become unique.
