It is political grandstanding. Legislatures talk about fixing history but they are just trying to impress local audiences.
Reparations to Blacks because of slavery is an idea that insults everyone involved. They can't do anything for the people that died over 100 years ago and there is no good reason to help their great great great great grandchildren.
There is a similar issue in Turkey with their ethnic cleansing of 100 years ago.
You can not change history.
