I live in Michigan. My bosses are trying to spite me since I gave a 2 week notice. I have a set scedual & work about 35 hrs a week. They gave away all my hours to other employees I found out today when I went to work.

I heard that there is some law that states they have to compensate me for these hours wether I work or not, for the next 2 weeks.

Is this true, can you help me?

Sorry, not true. You work at will. The employment relationship between you and your employer can be terminated be either party at any time with or without notice. They can not only change the schedule as they see fit, they can legally fire you when you give notice.

Once you give two weeks' notice, they cannot cut your hours in retaliation. That is against the law.

I suggest you contact your local labor board and evaluate your options, including filing a claim for an unfair labor practice.

In the absence of an agreement to the contrary, the employer will be responsible for paying you for your regularly scheduled time.

you can file for partial unemployment benefits but you won't really get any $$ out of it. they can give your hours to someone else if they want. you're leaving, so any perks (such as more hrs than other employees) have now gone away. if you're that ticked off about it, then just be done with the job. you respected them enough to give them a notice but if they can't respect you--then walk out

If that is a law it should not be.

If they don't need you to work and you quit, they should take away all your hours.
