Had a horrible experience there over the weekend in Indianapolis, both food and service were horrible, wanted to know what others thought of this place?

I really hated my experience at Buca Di Beppo. I felt very claustrophobic- it was too chaotic and cramped! Plus, to my horror, this happened: My family loves to eat there and I would never go with them. They'd always bring leftovers home so I decided to try the pizza. I kept saying, "This tastes like bleach or cleaner" and they all thought I was crazy. When I finally went the restaurant we ordered pizza again and it tasted like bleach. I asked the server what they cleaned the wood board it was served on with. Sure enough she brought out a rag soaked in bleach water. I was appalled! She assured me they wouldn't clean it with that anymore but I'll never eat there again.

I ate at the one in Milwaukee once. Too much food and quite mediocre. I'll stick to locally owned places.

I think it depends on what you get.....stay away from the things in marinara sauce. The chicken or veal marsala is good with garlic mashed potatoes and that garlic bread that is like a pizza is awesome. And they have a great antipasto salad also. I have been in Minneapolis and Maple Grove, MN.

I've been there once for my sister's birthday. The food was okay but I was turned off by the huge family style portions. When I see huge plates of food, it grosses me out...

I ate there once, in Minnesota. I loved the family style servings. And the food was a hundred times better than Olive Garden (which I normally liked). It was kitschy atmosphere and our server was great.

I've had good and bad experiences depending on which one. One location had great food and great service and the other one had horrible food...and I got the same dishes.

If you're going with a group it will be a fun time and the food is plentiful.
Just an aside: did you know that Buca Di Beppo means "My uncle's basement" in Italian? That is where the original one started and hence the name.

Not for a romantic dinner, but its made for a bigger group thats why they have big plate portions. Go when it is your birthday and everyone participates and will sing happy birthday to you. Its really fun there!!!!

Yes! They have large portions. I always had a good experience with them. I even bought their cookbook!
