Do we need any special tools?

You will need a c-clamp to compress the caliper piston. Autozone and Advance Auto Parts will loan you the tools you need.You will also need a spring remover and installer.

When removing the rear drums you will find two threaded holes in the drum near the center. They are metric. Thread the metric bolts into both holes. You will need a metric cap screw with treads at least 2-3" long. I think they are 8mm coarse thread.
these screws will help force the drum off. If you don't do this you may not get the drum off.
Release the parking brake adjuster also.
www.autozone.com has photos and instructions.Look up the 1996 brake drum, its the same as the 1999
